During a special ceremony on Wednesday May 22nd, the 10th Caribbean Baptist Fellowship (CBF) Youth Festival, scheduled to take place from July 23rd to 27th 2014 was officially launched.
Vice President of the Caribbean Baptist Fellowship Youth Fellowship (CBF), Ms. Jody McKenna, stated the CBF was formed in 1970, made up of 14 Conventions, Unions, Associations, which today has grown to 28 members and affiliates involving three major languages; French, Spanish and English.
The CBF she said, serves as the regional expression of the Baptist World Alliance, which encourages participation for its programmes and ministries, while being a channel of communication between the Baptist World Alliance and the member bodies of the Caribbean Baptist Fellowship.
Ms. McKenna noted, the Youth Festival was previously held in Guadeloupe, Trinidad, Bahamas and Jamaica will be held in Dominica this year, to be celebrated under the theme ‘Youth on F.I.R.E.’
Local coordinator of the Caribbean Baptist Fellowship Youth Festival, Mr. Peter Panthier, says the festival will prove to be very beneficial to Dominica, as it will attract many visitors who will spend money here – boosting the local economy.
“The festival also provides free marketing and advertising for Dominica, as the visitors will discuss their experiences while in Dominica when they return home,” Mr. Panthier added.
Minister of Tourism and Legal Affairs, Honourable Ian Douglas, says when he was first informed about this festival, he became enthused about it and wanted to ensure it receives all the encouragement it needs to succeed.
