12 calypsonians to compete in Fete St Anne’s calypso competition.
12 calypsonians will be vying for the Fete St Anne calypso king crown, when the St. Paul’s district celebrates its’ annual village feast. The calypsonians taking part in the competition are The Respector, Kaka, Sugar, Linki, General Kendis, Nestral, Super A, Murphy, Difficult, Silencer, Mousers and General Cock. Last evening SAT TV visited the calypsonians at their band practice in Jimmit. One calypsonians, The Respector, said that he has been involved in the calypso arena from a very young age and has high hopes of one day becoming the national calypso king of Dominica.
“I was not to much involved with the activities at the beginning but the people asked me to compose a song to represent the ‘ghetto youths’ so I decided that I am going to take part to sing one for the ‘ghetto youths’.
Guest performances from King Dice, King Karresah, King Hunter and the people’s king, Scrunter, will also form part of the event. Fete St Anne will be held under the theme, ’Working hand in hand to build community’ and will run from July 17th to July 26th, 2010.
