2013 Secondary Schools Volleyball Championships is Here

charlesOn Wednesday January 16th, official opening ceremony of the 2013 Secondary Schools Volleyball Championships was held.

Mr. Yehudi John, Senior Sports Officer, made mention that it pleases him to see that volleyball, which was not a popular sport amongst the Dominican public, has come this far.

The sport is now being played at “house levels” in various schools among the boys and girls.

He added their efforts at the primary schools will continue.

Mr. John commended the Dominica Grammar School and the Dominica State College for winning the championship in 2012.

Parliamentary Representative for Roseau Central Constituency Mr. Norris Prevost highly supports any sporting activity in Dominica.

Mr. Prevost says there are three things worth striving for and the main thing is a person’s reputation.

The third and most important thing he says is to be in good health.

The Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Honorable Justina Charles, recognized the work that the Sports Division continues to do with the youth.

She says this is an opportunity that opens the door for many other opportunities.

Ms. Charles advised the children to communicate with each other on the field when one disagrees with something rather than fighting.

The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports expresses its gratitude to all those who continue to participate and to assist in making the Secondary Schools Volleyball Championships successful.
