French Nationals Arrested after Security Breach at Airport

The police are reporting that two French nationals were arrested on the evening of Sunday March 9th 2014 following a breach of airport security.

Police Public Relations Officer Inspector John Carbon says, the incident, which occurred just before 6:00pm involved two French nationals, who allegedly ran out onto the runway at the Melville Hall Airport which is against airport security standards.

He said, they were warned to return to the lounge area of the airport but refused and was arrested by airport security.

 

 

When contacted, Chief Executive Officer of the Dominica Air and Sea Port Authority – DASPA, Mr. Benoit Bardouille confirmed the incident stating and I quote, “The matter is in the hands of the police and the investigation is in their hands now.”

Mr. Bardouille noted, there are provisions in the Civil Aviation Act of 2005 and also the DASPA Act of 2006, where these individuals wOULD be charged for their actions.
