23 juveniles currently remanded at the Dominica State Prison

Director of Camp Rescue Londonderry, Father Franklyn Cuffy is expressing concerns over the number of juveniles who are currently remanded at the Dominica State Prison. According to the redemptory priest, it is rather alarming that a total of 23 juveniles are presently incarcerated at the State Prison, even while the constitution clearly states that they should be placed in a rehabilitation centre. Father Cuffy believes that the situation highlights the need for the construction of such a facility in Dominica. He made this disclosure at a checque presentation on the premises of the First Caribbean International Bank who donated $1,000.00 to Camp Rescue Londonderry, on Friday June 25th, 2010. While thanking the donors for what he described as a timely donation, Father Cuffy said that the bank’s donation serves as a form of motivation and that they now feel encouraged to continue their work in empowering the youth. The next camp rescue session is schedule to commence in august and is expected to run for a period of one month.
