2nd National Health Symposium 2013
The Ministry of Health in collaboration with the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Ross University of Medicine, presented its 2ND National Health Symposium 2013, on Thursday August 1st.
The symposium held at the Arawak House of Culture, was conducted under the theme, “Data Quality – A Prerequisite for Good Evidence – Based Clinical Practice”.
Dr. Gerald Grell, Dean Clinical and Community Affairs of the Ross University, says the largest contributor of new doctors to the United States, comes from the Ross University.
Dr. Grell feels that it is part of his responsibility and concept in education, to be a co-supporter of any educational activity.
He commended those who travelled from Barbados, to study our Health Care Services here in Dominica.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Ms. Helen Royer, who represented the Minister of Health, Honourable Julius Timothy, said this event provides an avenue for staff, from both the primary and secondary health levels of the Health System in Dominica.
Dr. Paul Ricketts informed, that this project aims to seek cost-effective implementation of an HIV/STI anti program.
‘We want to strengthen our program for STIs, and ensure that quality information is fed into the policy making decisions used for Dominican patients.
