9 girls and 5 young ladies and to vie for the carnival princess and Miss Teen Dominica pageant

 

The various contestants who will be participating in the 2011 Miss Dominica Pageant as well as the 2011 Carnival Princess Show were presented to the public for the very first time, when the Waitukubuli Dance Theatre Company and the Rotaract Club of Dominica held the official media launch of the 2011 Miss Teen Dominica and Carnival Princess Contestants, at the Fort Young Hotel, last evening.

 

For the past few years the Waitukubuli Dance Theatre Company and the Rotaract Club of Dominica have been collaborating in launching their respective contestants together.

 

Chief Cultural Officer and Artistic Director of the Waitukubuli Dance theatre Company Mr. Raymond Lawrence the 34th annual Miss Teen Dominica Pageant coincides with the Waitukubuli Dance Theatre Company’s 40th anniversary of creative dance in Dominica which is being celebrated under the theme “keeping the dream alive’.

 

According to Mr. Lawrence, this year’s Miss Teen Dominica Pageant will also be celebrated under the theme “Keeping the dream alive”, since the teen pageant dream has stayed alive for 33 years and has grown to be one of the major flagship events of Dominica’s carnival celebrations.

 

The five schools which will be participating in this year’s teen pageant are the North Eastern Comprehensive Secondary School, the Portsmouth Secondary School, The Isaiah Thomas Secondary School, the Goodwill Secondary School and the Pierre Charles Secondary School.

The pageant is scheduled to be held at Carnival City on Sunday February 27th, 2011.

 

Meanwhile, the Rotaract Club of Dominica continues to portray its theme of fellowship through service by continually organizing the Carnival Princess Show.

 

Member of the Rotaract Club of Dominica Miss Kadisha Jno Baptiste says this year nine (9) exquisite and brilliant young ladies have shown their unwavering interest in participating in this year’s competition.

 

These contestants come from various primary schools across the island which includes the St. Martin’s Primary School, the Trafalgar Primary School, the Convent Preparatory School, the Campbell Primary School, the Massacre PRIMARY School, the St. Joseph Primary School, the Soufriere Primary School, the Goodwill Primary School and the Grand Bay Primary School.

 

The 2011 Carnival Princess Show will be held at the Harlem Plaza on February 20th, 2011.

 

The Show is scheduled to begin at 5:00pm
