A non-national captures the 2011 Teenage Pageant crown for the first time

Seventeen-year old Nicole Rodriguez of the Isaiah Thomas Secondary School has made history in Dominica, after becoming the first non-national to capture the Miss Teen Dominica title and the first miss teen in the history of the Isaiah Thomas Secondary School.


Nicole, who is originally from the Dominican Republic and was sponsored by LIME Dominica captured the awards for best talent, best spectacular wear, best in spectacular wear, best evening wear and best in evening wear, at the 2011 Miss Teen Dominica pageant which was held at carnival city on Sunday.


15-year-old Millie Casimir of the Portsmouth Secondary School, sponsored by the Bull’s Eye Pharmacy came in the first runner-up position after copping the award for best speech.


Amy Auguiste, 15, of the North East Comprehensive School sponsored by the Waitukubuli National Trail emerged second runner-up, copping the award for best response in question and answer segment.


New India Assurance sponsored Annesa Williams of the Goodwill Secondary School was sashed miss congeniality while 16-year-old Stella Alcendor of the Pierre Charles Secondary School, sponsored by Scotia Bank won the miss photogenic award.


The new miss teen promised to represent Dominica well in her stint as Miss Teen Dominica, while thanking her sponsors, family and friends, who assisted in preparing her for the pageant.


Her mother said she had no doubt that Nicole would have captured the crown, especially after she performed her talent round, presenting the ancient creative art as a belly dancer.


The pageant was organized by the Waitukubili Dance Theatre Company.
