Mr. Lawrence refers to Africa as the “Mother Land” and he believes that it is important that Dominicans learn about their Ancestors.
He mentioned that although we have our “Kalinago” natives and European influences, we still need to remember the African slaves who were brought to the Caribbean which is a major part of our heritage.
When asked where the idea was originated from, Mr. Lawrence mentioned that this has been going on for a few years now to introduce the public to their ancestor’s cultural practices.
Mr. Lawrence also thinks that we as citizens will benefit by being exposed to the African Culture.
