AID Bank Makes Contribution to the ‘Yes We Care Programme’ for Elderly
The Dominica Agricultural Industrial and Development Bank, (AID Bank) presented Christmas gift baskets to the Minister for Social Services, Community Development and Gender Affairs, Honorable Gloria Shillingford, on behalf of the ‘Yes We Care Programme’ for the elderly, on Monday December 20th, 2010.
Acting General Manager at AID Bank, Dr. Emaline Harris Charles says the donation is in keeping with the Bank’s cooperative responsibility of giving back to the community.
She commended the Government of Dominica, supervisors and caregivers of the programme.
Dr. Charles says this donation was made possible as the Dank’s employees decided to forgo their annual Christmas dinner, thereby demonstrating the importance of giving back to the community.
Honorable Gloria Shillingford says she is delighted with the contribution received from the AID Bank as proceeds go toward senior citizens who have contributed abundantly to the development of Dominica.
Over one hundred and eighty-six are expected to benefit from the donation which is valued at approximately fifteen to twenty thousand dollars.
In December, 2009, the AID Bank also sacrificed its annual Christmas dinner and collaborated with several village councils, making donations to two hundred and fifty-four underprivileged children from across the island.
