Always Be Prepared for Disaster During the Hurricane Season

The office of Disaster Management is urging residents to be on their toes when it comes to the Hurricane Season.

Currently we are in the peak of the season and we need to continue to prepare ourselves in the event an intense hurricane approaches.

Acting National Disaster Coordinator, Don Corriette says when there are approaching systems; we need to come together as a community to safeguard each other’s families and homes.

He says people need not to become complacent when there is only a depression or wave because even such events can wreck havoc in the community.

In the case of the wave which passed a couple weeks ago, a number of livestock was lost in the Northeast.

The office of Disaster Management is asking the public to always prepare for the worst and pray for the best.

Lyndsay George from the Disaster Management Unit says the upgrades in technology over the past years can help tremendously in how we prepare during the hurricane season.

The misuse of information can cause a great deal of harm during a storm.
