Association for Senior Citizens of Dominica Celebrates 30 Years
As part of its 30th Anniversary Celebrations, the Association for Senior Citizens of Dominica held its Dinner Ceremony in memory of its Co- Founder, Mr. Irving Percival Hill.
The ceremony welcomed members from around the country and the neighbouring French Islands of Martinique and Guadeloupe.
Mrs. Linda Hill, co-founder of AFSCOD, says AFSCOD was built to help elderly Dominicans who wanted to retire and obtain living assistance in Dominica.
She says with God’s grace they are celebrating 30 years of existence.
She says the confidence of the group’s members was the inspiration that helped them move forward.
They also realized that it was their unique qualities that helped them to reach out to those in need and lend a helping hand.
They observed a moment of silence in honour of their co-founder, Mr. Irving Percival Hill.
The Honourable Prime Minister, Roosevelt Skerrit says that without associations like AFSCOD, we would not be able to address a number of issues confronting the elderly in Dominica.
Government has also implemented programs for the elderly.
He says that at the appropriate the, he hopes the Government of Dominica will appreciate the efforts of AFSCOD in helping the elderly of Dominica.
