Attorneys Should Engage in More Pro-Bono Work says Henry Dyer
Senior Attorney At Law and member of the Dominica Bar Association, Henry Dyer is of the view that Dominican attorneys should engage more frequently in pro-bono work.
He said this is important because there are many persons who cannot afford an attorney.
Dyer pointed out that the Bar Association’s annual Law Fair which offers free consultations to persons who cannot afford an attorney is very important and necessary.
This he says, allows to be persons to be better informed with legal advice as opposed to being unrepresented during Court proceedings.
He explained that, attorneys are here to assist in the development of the country and not just to make money like some people may think.
Dyer noted, although the annual Law Fair does assist many individuals, he would like to see it taking place at least twice a year so a larger cross section of individuals are assisted.
According to the attorney, individuals can save a lot of money in various Court proceedings if they take the time to consult with an attorney rather than saying they cannot afford one.
