Bishop Delivers Easter Message
As part of Holy Week, the Catholic Church will host a week of activities to focus on a very special part of the life of Jesus – his passion, death and resurrection.
His Lordship, Bishop Gabriel Malzaire said during the week they continue to celebrate that moment with the celebration of God’s Passion on Palm Sunday.
This is followed with the celebration of the Chrism Mass traditionally celebrated on the Wednesday of Holy Week.
It is a time that the entire Catholic community gather with the priests and the bishop to celebrate a special mass, where the priests recommit themselves to God.
“…they renew the promises that they made at the ordination”, he said.
This celebration will be followed by Holy Thursday. Twelve (12) persons from the congregation will be chosen, after which their feet will be washed.
On Good Friday the congregation will go to Morne Bruce at 4.30 a.m. to recite the Stations of the Cross. At 3 p.m. they will celebrate the Passion of Jesus.
The Triduum will climax with the celebration of Easter Vigil on Easter Sunday.
The Bishop is inviting everyone to reflect on this week’s activities.
