Bringing about change through Public Sector Reform
An independent E-Government I.T and Telecoms Consultant is continuing the facilitation of a week long, training workshop on behalf of the Government of Dominica in collaboration with the Caribbean Center for Development Administration (CARICAD).
Speaking from the workshop at the Public Service Training Centre, Mr Ooh Koon Tian, facilitating the workshop, commented that many of Dominica’s public service policies and practices are remnant from its former British occupancy and it is in the Islands interest to review how it can develop and improve these public service policies.
Representing CARICAD, Mrs Alaine Codner-Murray, Communications Officer commented that Technology is the best tool for transforming government public services, and this workshop provides participants with the theoretical and practical insight required to make positive changes.
The workshop on Business Process Re-engineering (BPR) is aimed at equipping public service officers, from various ministries, with the knowledge and skills necessary to implement reform initiatives for the modernization and automation of public services.
A similar workshop was facilitated in St. Vincent last week and workshops will also be held in St. Lucia and Antigua in July.
