Cabinet meets with returning Dominicans
Members of the Roosevelt Skerrit led-administration met with returning Dominicans on Tuesday November 02nd, 2010 at the Public Service Union Building in an effort to identify various avenues through which they could assist in developing the Country.
Acting Minister of Employment, Trade, Industry and Diaspora Affairs, Honourable Alvin Bernard commended the gathering for their significant contribution made through remittances.
He said “one of the things that have been associated with the phenomena of migration is that of remittances, as persons who migrate always keep their loved ones and native homeland at heart.”
Meanwhile, Prime Minister of Dominica, Honourable Roosevelt Skerrit pledged Governments’ commitment to assist all Dominicans who have a genuine desire to play an active role in nation building.
The Prime Minister said that while he cannot say that his administration is perfect, one cannot dispute the fact that they have made tremendous progress over the past ten (10) years.
He said that the Government of Dominica will remain true to its core principles by maintaining strong fiscal policies, despite the many criticisms.
The meeting which was dubbed Dominica Diaspora Entrepreneurship Forum was hosted by the Regional Integration and Diaspora Unit of the Ministry of Employment, Trade, Industry and Diaspora Affairs.
The Diaspora Community formed as a result of the migration of people to various parts of the world, primarily for the purpose of improving their own well being.
