Campbell Celebrates Village Feast
The Campbell Despor Village council in collaboration with the villagers of the Campbell community will be celebrating their annual village feast this Easter weekend.
The feast will be celebrated under the theme “Promoting our Community in Unity through Christ”.
The theme was written by a seven year old, Jaden Alexander, a primary school student of Campbell.
It was selected after a competition that was open to all primary and secondary school children from Campbell for the 2012 village feast.
The feast will be celebrated from Good Friday with games of Rounders and cricket on the Campbell playing field and will be followed by a panel discussion on the topic of ‘How crime and drugs destabilize the family and community.’
The feast boasts many family centered activities such as a Talent show on Saturday night and a Family fun day on Sunday 8th April.
In addition, the community will host an exhibition that will showcase the development of Campbell by displaying items and foods of the historical village alongside their current counterparts.
Father Cuffy, Parish Priest of the Campbell village says that the feast this year will be celebrated in honor of former clerk Miss Juliette Esprit who lost her life in a land slide during hurricane Dean in August 2007 says.
The activities will culminate on Easter Monday with a mass to be presided over by the Bishop of the Diocese of Roseau, a grand exhibition at the Campbell Primary school and a blocko in the village.
