Canefield East Squatting Remains Unresolved

vlcsnap-2014-05-07-17h12m32s12The evacuation date for persons squatting in the Canefield East area has passed and houses still remain.

Recently an influx of squatters in that area generated some level of unease among nearby residents and authorities.

It was initially alleged that squatters were given permission to settle there by a minister of government. However, Prime Minister Honourable Roosevelt Skerrit and Minister for Lands, Housing, Settlements and Water Resource Management, Honourable Reginald Austrie later dismissed those allegations, requesting that those persons evacuate the premises.

At the time Austrie also stated that if houses are not taken down they would be demolished.
