Changes in the Open Campus Country Sites (OCCS)

Changes have occurred in the managerial structure of the UWI Open Campus Country Sites, and in particular the Dominica Site as of August 1 and will continue until December 31, 2012.

Dr. Francis O. Severin, Head of UWI Open Campus Dominica, has been appointed as the Acting Director of the Open Campus Country Sites (OCCS).

This has come into effect because Dr. Luz Longsworth, who previously served as the Director, has transferred to the Western Jamaica Campus, Mona.

In his new role, Severin will have oversight of the functions of the 42 physical site locations in the 16 English-speaking Caribbean countries that make up the UWI Open Campus.

The current Programme Officer at the Dominica Site, Mr. Felix Wilson will function as Acting Head. In that new capacity, Mr. Wilson will therefore oversee the daily operations of the Open Campus Dominica.

Deputy Principal of the UWI Open Campus, Professor Vivienne Roberts is positive that the changes will provide a seamless transition in the operations of the institution.

“We are assured that Dr. Severin and Mr. Wilson will continue to implement and add value to the work done in the OCCS communities across the region,” said Roberts.

Severin also expressed his confidence in Wilson’s ability to efficiently guide the Dominica Site over the next 5 months while he concentrates on the regional picture.

Wilson conveyed his best wishes to both Longsworth and Severin in their positions.
