Choose Your Career Early: North East District Pre-School Holds Annual Career Day
The North East District Pre-School held its annual career day at the Castle Bruce Reunion Center on June 16th, 2011.
This event served as a way to inform the pre-schoolers of the many career opportunities available to them in the future.
The pre-schoolers were addressed by people with various occupations including a farmer, a teacher, a priest and two politicians.
In his address, Father Elveau Augustine, stated to the students that priesthood is not a career or a profession but a vocation. He referred to priesthood as, not an option, but a response to the call of God.
Parliamentary Representative of Castle Bruce, Honourable Johnson Drigo, noted that there were no politicians scheduled to address the students that day. He noted, however, that politicians have very noble jobs and that his career choice is just as fulfilling as any other job.
Parliamentary Representative of the Carib Territory, Honourable Ashton Graneau, spoke of the interdependence of all careers. He said that all professions are noble and are of equal importance because they all depend on each other.
He did go on to say, however, that the job of a politician is sometimes a rather challenging one and that a lot of responsibility is given to politicians as they are the ones who people look up to when they are in need.
