City & Guilds Launches Regional Office in Barbados
The world renowned UK-based vocational qualification awarding organization, City & Guilds, will officially launch its regional office in Barbados on Wednesday 20 April 2011.
City & Guilds has been supporting the Caribbean for many years. The new regional office will help cement its relationship with the Government, industry bodies, employers, learning providers and learners across the Caribbean as it renews its efforts to increase workforce skills in the region.
Announcing the move, Ralph Adams, City & Guilds’ Senior International Manager, stated that the new office marked the next stage in the 132-year-old company’s approach to working with nations around the world: ‘We’ve seen a steady increase in demand for City & Guilds by all stakeholders over the last two years,’ he explained. ‘In a world affected by global recession, City & Guilds as a not-for-profit organization is dedicated to investing and supporting different regions across the world.
‘We’ve worked in this region for several years, and our new office will enable us to strengthen our relationship with the Government, employers and learners alike.
In the Caribbean there is a strong regional emphasis on developing the skills of the workforce, and we are delighted to be part of this process.

The Regional office will oversee operations in the Caribbean and Americas, delivering a range of qualifications from Teaching to Engineering, Construction to Hospitality. English language skills will also be offered.
City & Guilds currently operates in 81 countries, qualifying over 2 million learners every year.
