Climate Change Consultation on National Assessment
A National Consultation Assessment conducted by the Government of Dominica, took place on Tuesday December 3rd, in an attempt to comply with obligations as a signatory to the United Nations to promote conventional climate change.
The third national communication draft project proposal was structured by a team of expert consultants.
Dr. Eisenhower Douglas, Acting Permanent secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Natural resources, Physical Planning and Fisheries says, climate change is a part of life and it will take some time to understand and comply with the strains of it.
Mr. Douglas noted there is a critical difference between sustaining and maintaining and that the international communities are recognizing their responsibility to minimize the vulnerability of countries like Dominica.
The objectives of the consultation included; to enhance the understanding of the status and trends in Dominica’s response to climate, to build awareness of and to increase knowledge on the key issues of the global climate change negotiations as well as to promote national ownership of the implementation plan for the Third National Communication to UNFCCC.
