Convent High School reiterates the importance of life at the 2011 Peace Assembly for Life
The Dominica Social Justice and Peace Committee Inc. (DSJPC) is lending its support to the Convent High School as they finalize preparations for the 2011 Peace Assembly for Life, scheduled for Friday, January 21st, 2011, at the Convent High School grounds.
President of the Dominica Social Justice and Peace Committee, Father Franklyn Cuffy says the Peace Assembly will coincide with the annual march for life on the anniversary of a decision taken decades, ago to legalize abortion in several developing countries.
Father Cuffy says the students of the Convent High School are hoping that their pro-life pilgrimage will have maximum impact on elected leaders, and such a time calls for reflection by the entire nation.
A special presentation which is geared at highlighting the importance of respecting life will form part of the school’s special assembly.
Meanwhile Father Cuffy says a major concern for the committee is the spate of murders in Dominica, which already stands at five in 2011.
In that regard, he says this year focus will be placed on the recent murders that occurred in Dominica during 2010 and 2011.
He believes that despite the many social issues that are affecting citizens, especially the youth, there is still hope for Dominica.
A peace concert which will be facilitated by Magistrate Tiyani Behanzin later this month in the community of Wesley, will also compliment the 2011 Peace Assembly for Life.
