One young man will learn to control his anger after having to pay a hefty sum for his actions after facing a Roseau magistrate on Friday February 3rd, 2012.
According to the facts of the case, read by police prosecutor inspector Claude Weekes, Henderson Gordon of concord, went to the work place of his sister, who works at pagua bay and grill in Marigot, after receiving an unfavorable text message from her.
Upon meeting his sister, Mr. Gordon began cuffing his sister on her head, and squeezing her throat, until she was rescued by her co-workers, and a report was subsequently made to the police.
When confronted about the incident by the arresting officer, Mr. Gordon replied, and I quote, “officer I went to punch her on her mouth, but it took her on her head.”
Before handing down the sentence, magistrate Candia George urged Mr. Gordon, to seek counseling for his anger management issue, and that he should also resolve any issue he has with his sister.
Magistrate George also advised the defendant, to never lay his hand on a woman ever again.
He was fined $1500 to be paid by April 30th 2012, or in default sentenced to 3 months imprisonment.
Mr. Gordon was a first time offender, which went in his favor.
In more court news, the trial date in the case, of Akel Rossi of Tarish Pit, has been set for April 13th 2012.
Mr. Rossi is charged with battery and intimidation, which he pled not guilty to both charges.
It is alleged that Mr. Rossi beat and threatened, Rudey Jones in Roseau on January 24th 2012.
