court.jpgOne man will have some time to respect other persons property as he was sentenced to prison by Roseau Magistrate.

Ian Scotland from Roseau was charged with vagrancy on March 28th when he faced Roseau Magistrae Candia George.

According to the facts read by police inspector Valda Powell, Ms. Josephine Christian Owner of Riverside Building Complex, left Ms. May Johnson in charge of the premises in her absence while abroad.

Ms. Johnson says she heard an unusual sound from Apartment 3, around 12:30 am on March 28th, and when she looked outside she saw Mr. Scotland in the porch tampering with the window.

Ms. Johnson made a report and when the police arrived at the scene, they realized that window had been forced and tampered with.

The police officers went in search of the accused, and when questioned about the incident Mr. Scotland said and I quote, “officer I went upstairs but I did not go inside, I am sorry about that.”

Mr. Scotland was cautioned and arrested then brought to the Roseau Police Station.

 

She then sentenced him to 2 months in prison.

18 year old Mr. Valdo Frank from Marigot was charged with handling stolen goods when he faced Roseau Magistrate Candia George on March 28th.

On March 24th Ms. Bernice Carlton made a report at the Marigot Police Station when she noticed her laptop was missing between the hours of 9:30 am and 3:30 pm.

The police officers conducted an investigation and found the stolen laptop at Mr. Frank’s premises.

When questioned by the officer, Mr. Frank says a friend brought the laptop to him to be unlocked. He said he would unlock it and will hide it for him.

He was informed that he committed an offence and was arrested.

The magistrate advised him to handle situations better in the future and not to accept any stolen property.

Mr Frank was fined with $1500 to be paid by May 31st and if he fails to do so,he will be sentenced to 4 months in prison.
