Crime discussion in Colih
The other members of the Cabinet Subcommittee present were the Honourable Charles Savarin, Honourable Ambrose George and Honourable Alvin Bernard, along with the Parliamentary Representative for Colihaut Honourable Ronald Toulon.
The Meeting was the first in a series of consultations to be held over the coming few weeks in various communities of Dominica.
The objectives of the meetings are to discuss the level of crime and anti-social behaviour, to interact with and solicit views of the community as regards redressing the unacceptable criminal and anti-social behaviour in society.
The meeting was very successful as suggestions and overall participation from community members were rigorous, encouraging and very insightful.
The recommendations coming out of the meeting will be analysed, and to the extent appropriate will inform the actions and strategies for eliminating crime, violence and anti-social behaviour from our society. This will be made by the Cabinet Subcommittee and where appropriate will be included in the mix of activities and programmes to address the issues.
The Ministry of National Security thanks the villagers of Colihaut for their participation and enthusiasm, and looks forward to the continued enthusiastic participation from members of the other communities they will be visiting.
