The first ever Controversial Calypso show held on Saturday February 16th 2013 at the Harlem Plaza took flight when eight competitors vied for the crown.
However Daddy “Maddison Etienne” Miller emerged the first People’s controversial Calypso King. Ironically his song “Illegal Calypso King” was a crowd favorite.
Miller a young calypso singer performed his best, as he sang about the illegalities in our flawed society.
The crowd was seen dancing at the feet of Miller’s popular rendition of his winning song.
In addition to the crown Daddy Miller took home $5000.00 in cash and prizes.
In other performances Shadow Flow did a good performance where he acted like a drunken man with a glass of rum in his hand.
His song was entitled “Rum and de Party”
Derose gave a dynamic performance with his popular song which won him road march Bayo ba ba len.
He was dressed as a priest with a candle in one hand. Although the candle was not lit the crowd compensated for that as they raised their lighted candles up in the air.
