Daina Matthew captures the 2011 DSC Mas Jamboree title
Daina Matthew, an economics and literature major, emerged winner of the second edition of the Miss Dominica State College (DSC) Mas jamboree pageant on Friday, March 5th, 2011, at the Harlem Plaza.
Matthew swept the awards for best talent, best creative costume, best evening wear and best question and answer.
Zethra Baron, a psychology major, was awarded first runner-up while Normanna Jno Baptiste, who is majoring in nursing, was awarded the second runner-up position.
The other contestants were secretarial major Ann-Marie Cornelius, Dwannella James who is enrolled in the tourism program, Jernelle Jno Baptiste who studies biology and information technology and Terisa Lewis, who majors in architectural technology.
Daina Matthew will be awarded a scholarship from the DSC which will cover their full tuition as well as gifts and prizes from sponsors.
According to organizers the intention of the pageant was to use the DSC as a breeding ground for the national queen pageant.
Michelle Joseph, a contestant in the 2011 national queen pageant was the 2010 Miss DSC Mas Jamboree.
The event was organized by the student’s services department of the institution.
