Many persons may not live to witness their 100th birthday, however this was not the case for one lucky resident of Coulisbistrie.
Mrs. Lucette Fadalene Larocque better known as Darling, celebrated her 100th birthday on Monday May 27th 2013.
Mrs. Larocque earned the nickname, Darling because of her personality.
Although she migrated to Guadeloupe for a few years for working purposes, she lived most of her life in the community of Coulibistrie.
Mrs. Larocque married Mr. Peter Larocque, of whom she remained faithful up to the time of his death.
The two produced one child, who currently lives in the United States.
Effective Tuesday May 28th, Mrs. Larocque will enjoy the benefits the Government affords centenarians.
This includes; $500 monthly, a gas stove, and free liquid petroleum gas (LPG) compliments of Petro Caribe among others.
His Excellency the President Eluid T. Williams who was also at the celebration, extended congratulations on behalf of himself, family and Dominica to Mrs. Larocque on celebrating her 100th birthday.
The community of Coulibistrie is now home to three centenarians, with Ms. Larocque being the latest addition.
