DCA official applauds Kavem Hodge and Pearl Ettienne as they both make their international debut

Secretary of the Dominica Cricket Association, Mr Joseph Thomas is describing the selection of both Kavem Hodge and Pearl Ettienne for international tournaments, as a plus for the sport of cricket on the island.

Pearl Ettienne was selected on the West Indies women’s team for a tournament in South Africa while Kavem Hodge was called up by selectors to participate in the Daren Lehmann Cricket Academy in Australia.

Mr Joseph said that the Dominica Cricket Association and Dominica, by extension, is honored to be represented on an international level by these young players.

‘This I think will auger well for sports in Dominica, more so for cricket…it will also be an impetus for other cricketers to strive to reach that level. I hope that cricketers in Dominica can take a leaf from Kavem and Pearl’s book to advance in the sport of cricket,’ said Joseph.

The DCA secretary said that he agrees with boxing coach, Job Joseph who recently requested the implementation of a national sports program on the island. He said that a program of this nature will most definitely impact positively on the development of young Dominicans.

‘I want to echo the sentiments of boxing coach Job Joseph and hope that due diligence would be given to the support of a national program. If a program is implemented, it can go a long way in the development of young people, as they can get the opportunity to participate in different sporting disciplines,’ concluded Joseph.
