The Dominica Football Association (DFA) is expressing concerns about an ongoing issue at the Poree Park in Pointe Michel, which has been plaguing various sporting associations on the island, for the past two years.

According to the Public Relations of the DFA, Gerald George, the various associations are particular concern about their many balls which are being confiscated whenever they are hit or kicked by a player into certain dwelling properties that are constructed just below the playing field.

In that regard, the relevant stakeholders, namely, the Dominica Football Association, the Dominica Cricket Association (DCA) and the Pointe Michel Village Council met with the agitated homeowners in an effort to identify possible solutions to the problem.

After much deliberation, the aforementioned associations decided to erect a fence behind the goal post, as a temporary solution.

“The DFA has decided to donate a checque of $ 3,000.00 towards the project while the DCA is suppose to provide the wire and poles that are needed for the construction of the fence and the Pointe Michel Village Council has taken up the responsibility of sourcing the materials from Carib Sand and Stones as well as mobilizing persons to work on project.”

However, the DFA is expressing disappointment as the DCA has failed to fulfill their commitment in providing the necessary funding for the project.

George believes that this is rather unfortunate as it hinders the start of the project.

He said just recently they lost another ball, which brought the total number of balls lost for the season to approximately eight (8).

“Balls are very expensive since the price per one ball is approximately $ 120.00 and earlier this week I had to purchase one to replace the one that was recently confiscated and I must say that we cannot continue this way,” exclaimed the PRO as he appealed to the relevant stakeholders who have not yet made their contributions, to do so, in the quickest possible time.
