DFA Football Association’s Meeting
The agenda of the Dominica Football Association’s (DFA), General Meeting was disrupted for some time, as former President of the DFA Mr. Dexter Francis, refused to exit the room after numerous requests to do so.
Mr. Francis filed a lawsuit against the DFA claiming that, he is owed monies following his resignation in 2008.
He stated that, on the date of his resignation the DFA owed him arrears of salary for four months in addition to two weeks’ vacation, which totals to over EC $18,000.00 to date.
Under the Constitution of the Dominica Football Association, any member who proceeds with legal action against that Organization, will be suspended pending the outcome of the Court matter.
The Constitution also states that, the individual cannot participate in any event organized under the auspices of the Dominica Football Association.
This was communicated to Mr. Francis via two letters.
This did not go down well with Mr. Francis who showed up at the General Meeting and verbally expressed his frustration verbally.
On a more positive note, President of the Dominica Football Association, Mr. Glen Etienne during his president’s report congratulated the various teams who captured championships in the just concluded DFA football season.
Some of which were;
Scotia Bank Bath Estate – Premiere Division Champions, Exodus Football Club – First Division Champions, Cube Cheese Barbershop – Intermediate Division Champions, and Aldrin Pizza and More Bombers – All Island League Champions.
He added, the DFA has successfully negotiated funds for the construction of mini football pitches in the communities of Bath Estate and Castle Bruce, adding value to the standard of sports on the Island.
The DFA vowed their commitment to the further development of football on the Island as a collective effort,” he went on to say.
