Dive Fest 2011 Begins
The annually held Dive Fest is all about building relationships.
This comment was made yesterday, July 8th, by Mr. Simon Walsh, president of the Dominica Water Sports Association at a press conference officially launching Dive Fest 2011, the eighteenth annual festival of its kind.
Mr. Walsh said that he was only the “mouth piece” of the octopus, to put it in marine terms, but the octopus has several hands which put things together for dive fest each year.
The festival took off last night at the Fort Young Hotel with the Dive Fest Happy Hour and extends to the 17th of July.
This year’s festival will include several of the traditional activities such as the Beginner’s Dive and the popular Kubuli Canoe Races.
However, a new event will be held in an effort to reach out to the community. The children at the Alpha Centre will be taken for a boat ride at the Soufriere-Scotts Head Reserve where they will be treated to eats and drinks and other activities.
Mr. Walsh expressed his gratitude to the many sponsors of Dive Fest 2011 and especially noted Kubuli who has been on board from the festival’s conception.
