SAT TV, met with Portsmouth Parliamentary Representative, the Honourable Ian Douglas, to learn more about the collaborations between local Portsmouth football teams and teams from Marie Gallant, Martinique and Guadeloupe.

Mr. Douglas commented that there has always been a very enthusiastic football culture in Portsmouth and he has been instrumental in setting up a football clinic which coaches eight (8) to sixteen (16) year olds, for many years now.

Mr. Douglas stated that with Portsmouth being champions of the premier league in Dominica this year, they have used that to branch out and take the opportunity to pair with some of the French teams in the neighboring Islands.

Mr. Douglas further stated that, during the months of June and July 2011, teams from Martinique, Guadeloupe, Marie Gallant and Dominica are invited to play league football in Marie Gallant.

Mr. Douglas considers this to be very beneficial to the Portsmouth teams as there is much they can learn from the skill and techniques of the French players.

We wish the participating teams the very best of luck.
