Dominica Host CaribNOG Workshop
Dominica is host to the Caribbean Network Operators Group (CaribNOG) 7 workshop, which began on Monday April 28th 2014 at the Fort Young Hotel.
Mr. Stephen Lee, CaribNOG’s Coordinator, said the Organization was established in 2007 – the brainchild of the Caribbean Telecommunications Union (CTU), in addition to a number of Information Telecommunications practitioners.
As the internet grew, the group saw it necessary to improve on the value of technology and telecommunications which impacts the Caribbean. Lee believes the region can benefit from such advances.
The triangulation of efforts which involves the collaboration of the Government, international organizations and the private sector to improve on resources in the Telecommunications sector is vital, he said.
The Organization focuses on issues as it relates to security and or cyber-crime, cloud storage and privacy in addition to data transfer.
Throughout the workshop, they will be addressing issues of security and enterprise network development, cloud computing and the development of our domestic internet economy.
