Dominica Loses Right to Vote at UN General Assembly
Dominica is one of two Caribbean countries in arrears for payments due to the UN – United Nations and has therefore lost their right to vote at the General Assembly made effective on February 24th 2014.
Dominica is in arrears of US$19,734, according to a letter from the UN General Secretary, Ban Ki-Moon.
Leader of the Opposition UWP (United Workers Party), Mr. Lennox Linton feels that this is due to the delinquency of the Government.
Based on reports, this is the second time Dominica has lost its right to vote at the UN due to unpaid dues.
Grenada is the other Caribbean country that lost its right to vote at the Assembly.
