Dominica Met Office observe World Meteorological Day
The Dominica Meteorological Center joins the rest of the world in observing world metereological day, on March 23rd, 2011.
Every year the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and its 189 members worldwide celebrate the day around a chosen theme.
This day commemorates the entry into force, on that date in 1950, of the WMO convention creating the organization.
Forecaster at the Canefield airport, Mr Marshall Alexander says that one of the activities held in Dominica this year is an exhibition, centered aro
und the theme; ‘climate for you’.
Another activity held by the Dominica Meteorological Office leading up to world met day, is awareness programs in various primary schools in Dominica.
Mr Alexander says that today’s exhibition is a continuation of that awareness campaign.
He also has some advice for Dominicans in observance of world met day.
Next week the Dominica Met Office is expected to release the names of students who were successful in a poster competition, depicting the theme.
