The Dominica National Youth Council will select a new Executive Board at their 2013 General Assembly, held on Saturday July 20th.

President of the Dominica National Youth Council, Ms. Fenella Wenham says the election of the new Executives will be the highlight of this years’ Assembly.

“The current Executive Board will submit a report to the various youth districts Island wide to present the opportunity for young persons to voice concerns and inquire about the Council,” Ms. Wenham explained.

It is hoped that the youth group, which make up the various districts will make an extra effort to attend the General Assembly.

Ms. Wenham added it is very important that the youth fill out the early nomination forms which are vital for the elections.

She also noted that she is confident in being re-elected as President.

According to the President, with a good team and a proper strategic plan, a lot can be done. However, there are times that the amount of work that needs to be completed, for long term achievements or goals, simply cannot be ready in two years.

“Certainly we need to continue our efforts in addressing issues affecting the youth – that is paramount, while participating in strengthening policy making decisions”, she explained.

Ms. Wenham also highlighted the need for more emphasis to be placed on entrepreneurship and employment in addition to agriculture.
