On Monday March 10th a press conference was held, where Mr. Felix entertained questions from media persons present.

He claimed that the couple was sent to represent Dominica at the winter games in an effort to bring coverage to the Island, distinguishing it from the Dominica Republic.

“They [Gary de Silvestri and Angelica Morrone de Silvestri] were responsible for carry a suitcase full of pamphlets, magazines, brochures, flyers, DVD’s, featuring the Kalinago, scenic landscape and local artists from the Discover Dominica Authority, as well as national flags and dive and whale watching promotional materials from the Anchorage Hotel to attendees.”

Mr. Felix noted, that the two athletes on their own and not financed by the DOC, between August 2013 and January 2014, competed in New Zealand, USA and Canada to qualify.

He said just as Dominica has participated in five summer Olympic Games, so too will they participate in the winter games and invited the Diaspora to come on board and partake.

In the nearness of qualification time, Mr. Felix concluded that it was not possible to bring along a reporter to the event.
