Dominica secures win in FCCA Essay Competition
What does sustainable tourism mean to your destination?
That was the theme of the 2011 FCCA Foundation children’s essay contest where 19 nations took part.
This year’s competition was coordinated by the Discover Dominica Authority with support from the ministries of tourism and education.
Medina Tyson of the Northeast Comprehensive School placed second.
Ms. Tyson praises her family for pushing her beyond her limits when she felt that there was no reason to continue developing her essay.
The FCCA competition is held annually and seeks to promote and stimulate awareness among Caribbean students while serving as a medium for creativity.
Ms. Tyson encourages all students to read daily so they can strengthen their writing skills.
Medina Tyson will receive a cash scholarship of us$1500 and the Northeast Comprehensive school will receive a monetary award of us $1500.
