Dominica has received a US 8.2 million dollar grant from the PRC – People’s Republic of China.

Prime Minister Honourable Roosevelt Skerrit and His Excellency Wang Zonglai, China’s Ambassador to Dominica, signed the agreement on Friday, December 6, 2013 to officiate the grant.

Prime Minister Honourable Roosevelt Skerrit says, this agreement is a symbol of the trust the two countries have placed in each other.

He says it is also a clear testimony of the fact that the relationship between the Government of Dominica and the People’s Republic of China remains strong.

The Government of Dominica and the Government of the PRC, with a view of further developing economic and technical cooperation between the two countries, have agreed that the monies will be used for the implementation of a project to be agreed upon by the two Governments.

China and Dominica established diplomatic relations in March 2004.

Since then the countries have enjoyed a close friendship with mutual respect for sovereignty and cooperation.
