Dominica to host CARICAD meeting on December 3rd
Dominica will have the distinguished pleasure of hosting the 31st Board of Directors meeting of the Caribbean Center for Administration Development (CARICAD) in December this year.
That’s the word coming from the Chief Personnel Officer, Mrs Irma Edwards who made the announcement at the launching ceremony of Public Service Day 2010 at the Public Service Training Center last week.
“Our counterparts in the 13-member territories of CARICAD will be here with us for December 3rd to participate. There are very few countries which are implementing a public service day week of activities. It is also an opportunity for them to see what we do so they can implement it in their territories,” said Edwards.
The Reform Management Unit has launched a number of activities that will run from September through December in observance of public service day 2010.
Activities will include a football match, a health walk and a debate as well as other activities observing diabetes day and World AIDS Day in December.
One of Dominica’s very own will also be the guest speaker at an awards ceremony where several public servants will be honored.
“We have invited Mrs Jennifer Astaphan who is the Executive Director of CARICAD. She was a former Permanent Secretary and Chief Personnel Officer and she will be our guest speaker at the awards ceremony,” announced Edwards.
At the awards ceremony, the Jerry Augustine awards will be bestowed on an exceptional office attendant/messenger while other awards will include the junior officer of the year, middle manager of the year, team award and the minister for public service award. The oldest surviving retiree of the public service residing in Dominica will also receive an award.
