Dominican cricketers applauded for their great achievements
Minister for Culture, Youth and Sports, Honorable Justina Charles hosted a reception last evening in the honor of the Dominica Cricket team, who captured the Inaugural Windward Islands 20/20 cricket tournament championship in St Vincent and the Grenadines.
Sports Coordinator in the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, Mr. Trevor Shillingford applauded the cricketers on their victory and said that the success of any national team is to be celebrated, considering that this achievement is the first of its kind in the Windward Islands.
Chairman of the Windward Islands Lotteries, Mr Ian Monreau, mentioned in his address that the tournament held in St Vincent and the Grenadines has amounted to the total cost of $120,000 and there will also be an additional cost of $35,000 to be spent to house the players in Trinidad for the t/20 tournament.
The Windward Islands Lotteries will not only lend a hand towards the cricket tournament but also to the football association to help revive the Windward Islands Football Tournament.
Honourable Justina Charles, congratulated the cricketers on their great achievement and said that she is well aware that the process leading up to this achievement did not come over night. She added that being successful does not mean that they should become complacent.
