Dominicans Awarded at Lab Week Observation
A total of 20 Dominicans were awarded with certificates on Friday April 26th, as they completed a Princess Margaret Hospital’s Laboratory Phlebotomy Training Program, as part of their celebration of Lab Week.
Mrs. Jennifer Laville, Acting Laboratory Superintendent stated, for every doctor or nurse the public recognizes, there is a lab professional working behind the scenes, processing laboratory tests which are vital for every patient.
She added, lab professionals will continue to conduct accurate tests to continue serving the public.
Acting Hospital Service Coordinator Mr. Clayton Bryan noted, that as lab professionals the Government’s Laboratory plays a significant role in the integrated health services network.
He went on to say over the years, the lab has been contributing significantly to the diagnosis of patients’ illnesses or diseases.
He stated that, since some members of the public were selected to take part in this training program, it will be very beneficial in the event that there is an urgent need for a phlebotomist.
Mr. Bryan added, this program will be a definite advantage for the Lab, the PMH and Dominica.
The participants were; Nora Francis, Mary Williams, Malowwa Esprit, Prince Alexander, Lyndelle Joseph, Reisha Felix, Venique Theophile and Norbert Simeon.
Other participants included; Carine Fevrier, Amy Eloi, Kimone Ferrol, Sarah-Lisa Lloyd, Kervin Gregoire, Crystel Hilton, Cyrus Ferrol, Dannaria Maronie, Cheri-Ann Wilkins, Jeanna Elwin, Andre Fortune and Jem George.
