Dominicans Urged to Take Advantage of Law Week Activities

footage (8)Dominicans are being urged to take advantage of this year’s Law Week activities as it will benefit the population significantly.

This advice came from President of the Dominica Bar Association, Wynante Adrien-Roberts on Friday May 30th 2014, during a press conference to inform the public about Law Week 2014.

She noted, their first activity is an annual Law Fair on Saturday May 31st, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Convent High School, where members of the Bar Association will give back to the community by giving free legal advice on any legal matter.

Tuesday June 3rd has been declared Civics Day by the Bar Association, where the Minister of Legal Affairs Honourable Ian Douglas will address the nation on civic duties and responsibilities.

The Association will also host presentations on civic duties at various Secondary Schools Island-wide.

She noted, this lecture dubbed the Justice Telford Georges Memorial Lecture Series, will not only discuss the Caribbean Court of Justice, but will include Dominica’s Constitution and how it will be potentially reformed by the CCJ.

Law Week will culminate on Saturday June 7th with a Gala Dinner at the Fort Young Hotel, where the Association will honour former Dominican President His Excellency Dr. Nicholas J.O Liverpool, for his sterling contribution to jurisprudence regionally and his continued support of the Dominica Bar Association.
