Dominica’s OECS Ambassador Charles Maynard Passes Away

OECS.jpgDominica’s OECS Ambassador Charles Maynard, who dedicated his life to public service, has succumbed to his illness in the early hours on Tuesday May 8th.

Mr. Maynard served in government with the Dominica Freedom Party for 15 years, under the Dame Mary Eugenia Charles administration.

The Dominica Freedom Party’s (DFP) leader, Ms. Judith Pestaina, says Mr. Maynard helped the country make inroads in primary health care, when he was minister of health.

He was also special advisor to the Prime Minister Honourable Roosevelt Skerrit, and OECS Ambassador.

In 2007 Mr. Maynard published a book entitled “Pathways to Service: A Life in Public Speaking.”

However in 2012, prominent Dominican attorney Justice Irvin Andre, published a book entitled “Charles Maynard: A Life In Public Service,” which is a biographical piece which highlights his life, accomplishments and career.

Mr. Maynard died at the age of 78.
