“Dream come true” for the Giraudel/Eggleston Flower Show

Celebrating with the theme ‘Reviving Our Floral Heritage,’ the twin communities of Giraudel and Eggleston hosted their flower show on Saturday May 18th.

The show which was held after a nine year absence, was organized by the Giraudel/Eggleston Flower Growers Group.

According to Mrs. Royer, the idea of hosting a flower show developed, when they considered the many beautiful flowers growing in Giraudel.

It was dreams come true, she said, when they were finally blessed with a permanent location to host the annual flower show.

They are currently discussing whether or not they may host this event during the Independence season, when the country receives a large number of visitors and returning Dominicans.

Member of the Giraudel/Eggleston Flower Growers Group Incorporated, Ms. Elizabeth Alfred, said they were really pleased to see the participation of young people who were instrumental in the preparation for the event.

Ms. Alfred noted, they have been receiving many positive comments from all who visited the show.

With the permanent home for the flower show, Ms. Alfred stated, it presents them with the ability to host a lot more fund raising events to be used for the building’s and land maintenance, in addition to the continued development of the flower show.

She also noted, because of the scenic area in which the building is located; it can be used to host weddings, dinners, workshops and seminars.

Ms. Alfred went on to say, the organizing committee would love to see the involvement of the young people, for the continued development of this historic flower show, this can also be used as a source of income.
