DSC Student in Trouble with the Law!

arrestedJavid Alfred of Delice, a student of the Dominica State College has been fined for cultivation and intent to supply cannabis.

The 20 year old, who appeared before Magistrate Candia George on Thursday May 22nd 2014, pleaded guilty to three charges including possession of cannabis.

According to the facts, police were responding to a report that the defendant had threatened someone with a firearm and stole their chain.

He was later arrested and taken to police headquarters where police obtained a search warrant for the defendant’s home in Delice.

While conducting the search police saw a clear plastic under Alfred’s bed and another plastic bag was found above a door frame, both containing marijuana.

Just outside his bedroom window police observed 29 potted cannabis seedlings which Alfred confirmed belonged to him.

He was then arrested for the offences of possession, cultivation and intent to supply the illegal drug.

Alfred was fined $800 for cultivation payable by June 30, 2014 or 3 months imprisonment in default of payment.

He was also charged an additional $700 for intent to supply which is to be paid by August 31, 2014 or another 3 months in default.

There was no separate penalty for possession.
