DSC students search for answers to crime and violence in Dominica

Yesterday, students of the Dominica State College journalism club brought together law and enforcement officials as well as various church leaders to discuss in a panel format, the spate of crime and violence being experienced in Dominica.

The speakers were Bishop of Roseau, His Lordship Gabriel Malzaire, Evangelical Pastor Randy Rodney, Chief Magistrate Evelina Baptiste and Police Public Relations Officer, Inspector Claude Weekes.

The main purpose of the panel discussion was to raise greater awareness among the youth on the negative impact of crime and violence and to sensitize them on the need for proactive action in dealing with this scourge.

Chief Magistrate Evelina Baptiste said that as a magistrate, she can point to a number of reasons as to why these negative behaviours are being displayed by Dominica’s youth.

The event was carried live by SAT Telecommunications Ltd on channel 8.
