The management of the Dominica solid waste management corporation (DSWMC), is calling on Dominicans to be vigilant, and to continue to ensure that the smart bins are protected, from all forms of mischief.

Public relations officer of the DSWMC, Mr. Jeno Jacob says, the bins are placed at various locations in the city of Roseau, for the sole purpose of disposal of garbage.

Mr. Jacobs made this statement on the heels of, discovering that one of their smarts bins, located in Roseau was burnt down, after someone placed fire inside of it.

Litter Warden Mr. Reginald Jean Jacques says, that they are trying to keep the city clean, and condemns the malicious act, of someone burning down the bin.

Mr. Jacobs also used the time to, thank the 27 business owners who came on board, for the adopt a block initiative and purchasing the smart bins.

The adopt a bin plan was a collaborative effort, of the Dominica solid waste management corporation, the Roseau city council, and the discover Dominica authority.

It is the hope that, the program will aid in keeping to make the town clean, to make Roseau an exemplary city in the Caribbean.
